Add Custom Address Fields in Salesforce

    Salesforce provides a ton of different fields to store customer-related information. For example, longitude and latitude to store location coordinates can be used to calculate the distance.

    The one key fields which were missing was Address. Until Summer’22, we have to create multiple fields to host address-related information (Country, State, City, Street, PostalCode) but not anymore. Today we will discuss enabling the address field for your org and the step to create one. Let’s get started.

    Deliver to Your Customers with Custom Address Fields

    With Address as a Custom Field (Beta), your Salesforce end users can add and retrieve address data via custom Address compound fields on standard and custom objects. Users can edit the custom address field data in records and view custom address data in list views and reports.

    We have to perform the steps to enable Custom Address fields (Beta):

    1. Enable custom address fields (Beta)
    2. Implement State and Country Picklist
    3. Create a Custom Address field

    Step 1: Enable custom address fields (Beta)

    1. Navigate to Setup | Quick Find box, enter User Interface.
    2. Select User Interface.
    3. Select Use custom address fields (Beta) and click on Save.

    Step 2: Implement State and Country Picklist

    1. Configure States, Countries, and Territories
      1. Setup |Quick Find box, enter State and Country/Territory Picklists, then select State and Country/Territory Picklists.
      2. On the State and Country/Territory Picklists page, click the Configure States, Countries, and Territories.
      3. On the Configure States, Countries, and Territories page, select Active and Visible.
      4. Click Save.
    1. Enable Picklists for Standard Address Fields
      1. Click on Scan for state and country/territory data stored using standard address fields.
        1. Click on Scan for state and country/territory data button.
      2. Click on Convert identified data in standard address fields.
        1. Select Country/Territory Value and click Save to Changelist | Click Next.
        2. Select State Value and click Save to Changelist | Click Next.
        3. Click on Finish and Deploy Changelist button.
      3. Click on Scan again for state and country/territory data stored using standard address fields.
        1. Click Scan Data.
        2. Click Scan Customizations.
